Jacques Zuccaire was known for his vibrant still lifes, figural paintings, and commercial art and design. He was born in Montmartre in Paris, France, and following World War I, he and his family emigrated to the United States settling in New York City. There, Zuccaire attended first Cooper Union and later the Art Students League. He worked as a commercial artist for a number of New York advertising firms including setting up his own agency, but he became most well known for his commercial work with Lionel Trains. After retiring, he refocused on his own painting. Some art institutions and galleries that exhibited his work include James Hunt Barker Galleries, the Art Students League, and the Phyllis Lucas Gallery, among others.
