Woven plant fibers, rattan, glass beads, shells, bells, and wood

Hawat or ba’ as they are also known, are baby carriers used among the Dayak peoples of Borneo. The backs are decorated with protective charms and fierce designs to guard both the body and soul of the child from harm. This design features spirit figures, cowrie shells and bell charms.

Condition

- some fraying and minor breakage to rattan and fibers.
