Known as a modern French master in painting and lithography, Cobelle created whimsical and darling landscapes and naïve scenes of modernity. He was formally educated at the University of Munich before studying art at the École des Beaux-Arts. However, it was under the tutelage of Marc Chagall and Raul Dufy that Cobelle developed his signature style. He found commercial success during the 1950s in the United States with his Parisian style street and cityscapes. Many of his images have been reproduced for magazine covers, pottery patterns and dinnerware. Cobelle’s works are internationally collected and exhibited.
