Original Charles William Duvall Oil on Board Painting
Item Details
An original oil on board painting by well listed Ohioan Landscape painter Charles William Duvall (1864 – 1966). Duvall died in Columbus, OH. Nearly one hundred years old, he had been painting for more than half of his life. Duvall, at the time of his death, was regarded as one of the city’s most influential and well-loved artists. An absolutely riveting landscape painting of the highest quality, painted in 1940, the artist has executed a fine image. This is a serene landscape deep in the wilderness and probably painted en plein air. A winding river cuts through the pines, with rock formations on either side as it bends out of view, further into nature. The brushwork is mildly impasto, and highly suggestive. The marks used to achieve conveyance are of their own brand, poetic and articulate, something unique is achieved in their concert. An absolutely captivating piece presented in a beautiful gilded wooden frame with subtle embellishment.
Condition
