Born in Li-yang Kiang-su, China, Jen Pang is known for his distinct expressionist style that often exhibits a vibrant palette and simple forms. Many of his works feature still lifes and landscapes, which often include women, children, and traditional Chinese boats. Pang studied at the Soo-Chow Academy, and later studied in the studio of Yee-Bon in Hong Kong and Jean de Botton in Paris. His first solo show was held at the U.S. Cultural Center in Hong Kong, which was sponsored by the U.S. State Department. He was an active member of the Hong Kong Art Club from 1958 to 1962, and also represented Hong Kong at the Commonwealth Art Today at London’s Commonwealth Institute in 1962. Throughout his life, he has participated in more than forty solo shows throughout the world, in addition to numerous group exhibitions. In 1966, the artist immigrated to the United States, and since then, his work has been featured in several publications of the U.S. State Department. Today the artist lives and works in Boca Raton, Florida.
