Original Marcello Oil on Canvas Painting
Item Details
An original oil on canvas painting most likely from the 1960s, signed to the lower right-hand corner with the name Marcello. The artist has painted a staunch bearded fellow, an elderly gentleman of the highest caliber, smoking a rather grandiose pipe. His white beard and red vest would lead the viewer to make the assumption that this is undeniably a painting of the famous children’s Christmas hero Santa Claus. Whether or not this is actually Kris Kringle is beside the point. This painting has immense gusto any way you slice it, and if you’re trying to let people know that you’re refined and dignified then this is just the painting for you. The rippling and impasto brushwork yield the expression of a man with intrepid eyes that are full of purpose. This immaculate painting is presented in a wildly appropriate gilded frame with embellishment in low relief.
