Known for her Abstract Expressionist composition, Esther Liu studied art at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and at NYU in New York City. She was a member of the EPOXY Art Group, a collective group of artists hailing from Hong Kong and China active in New York in the 1980s and 1990s. A solo exhibition featuring her work was held by the Pao Gallery at the Hong Kong Arts Centre. In 2018, she was included in Art Across Archives, an exhibition that featured work by the EPOXY Art Group.

- uneven toning and edge wear to paper; torn sides to paper sheet; paper curls from prior rolled storage; smudges and marks to surface, with charcoal media unfixed.
