Francis Dixon was the sole artist from a prominent family in Long Island, New York, who began his career as an illustrator, and exhibited heavily throughout New York during his career. He trained at The Art Students League with Robert Henri and with Charles Hawthorne in Cape Cod. His work can be found in the permanent collection of Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, as well as in private collections throughout the country.
