Victor Casenelli was born in New York City in 1867 to Italian parents and spent the first years of his artistic career in Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving to Michigan, where he lived until his death in 1961. He is best known for his paintings of Native Americans. His work is represented in the collections of numerous prestigious institutions, including Jackson Public Library, Muskegon Museum of Art, and The Lightner Museum, among others.
