Unsigned

An early Italian Renaissance style oil portrait on panel in the manner of Filippino Lippi (Florence, 1457 – 1504). The work features the subject’s identification to the upper edge, reading ‘Sandro Dominicvs.’ The painting may possibly depict a young Sandro Botticelli (Florence, 1445 – 1510). Botticelli apprenticed under Fra Filippo Lippi (Florence, 1406 – 1469) also known as Lippo Lippi. The painter may have confused the two artists named Lippi when producing this painting.
