An English School oil painting on canvas depicting a half-length portrait of a gentleman. The frame plaque attributes the painting to George Romney (England, 1734 – 1802) and the subject as Sir Thomas Troubridge, 1st Baronet (1758- 1807). However, this is not supported by documentary research.

Condition

- scattered inpainting, most notably to left collar and canvas edges; scattered areas of craquelure; dust and light scattered accretion; chipping, abrasions and finish wear to frame.
