Hendrik Savry was born in Haarlem, Holland in 1823, and spent most of his life living and working in the Netherlands. He is best known for his pastoral landscapes with grazing cows and sheep, bathed in glowing, nostalgic sunlight. His work was popular with collectors during his lifetime and remains sought after in the present day. His paintings are represented in the collections of numerous museums, including Art Galleries of Montreal, Reading Public Museum in Reading, Pennsylvania, and the Hague in Holland.
