Known for his landscapes, etchings, and his 1913 portrait of Sigmund Freud, Max Pollak received his formal art training at the Vienna Academy of Art. In 1927, he immigrated to the United States and gained a reputation as a skilled etcher. His work has been collected by numerous prestigious institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the British Museum, among others.
