1853 Liberty Head Gold Dollar. This coin features a left facing Liberty ringed by thirteen stars to the obverse and ‘1 DOLLAR 1853’ in a wreath of laurels to the reverse. Designer: James B. Longacre. Mintage: 4,076,051. Metal Content: 90% gold, 10% copper. Diameter: 12.7 mm. Weight: 1.7 grams. Coin appears lightly circulated and to have been made into a piece of jewelry and converted back to a coin with remnants of mounts to the reverse.
