Anita Dawson is a native of Columbus, Ohio, and spent much of her youth in Florida. She obtained a BFA at the University of Florida in 1972 focusing on ceramics and printmaking, then went on to receive an MFA from the University of South Florida. Her passion for education drew her back to Columbus to teach at the Columbus College of Art & Design, where she taught drawing and painting for thirty-seven years.
