Additional Information: Qing Dynasty period (1644-1912). The robe is embroidered with four-clawed dragons, flaming pearl (pearl of wisdom), clouds, guardian lions, lusui waves, manji/wànzì symbols or swastikas, which represented well-being, good fortune and the universe/“all things”, medallions, bats, eternity knots and flowers.

Condition

- holes, loose threads and missing embellishments/embroidery; fabric abrasions and shattering or threadbare areas; some tearing or ripped fabric, especially near seams where the wool meets the lining; staining, holes, tearing and discoloration to lining; woven lining material is delicate.
