Charles Camille Gruppe was born in 1928, to a family of prominent East Coast artists, including grandfather Charles Paul Gruppé (1860-1940), and uncles, sculptor Karl Gruppé( 1893-1982) and painter Emile Gruppé (1896-1978). Charles studied at Yale University and then earned a Master’s of Fine Art Columbia University. He also studied in Italy on a Fulbright Fellowship Grant. His work has been widely exhibited and won numerous awards across the United States.
