Sèvres Napoleonic Hand-Painted Portrait Plates Painted by D' Humbert, 1804-1809
Item Details
A group of four Sèvres Napoleonic porcelain portrait plates. This grouping was painted at Sèvres by the artist D’Humbert. Each plate depicts a different named subject within a medallion surrounded by gilded laurel leaves, an apple green ground and anthemion borders. The painter has signed each portrait inside the medallion. Printed marks reading M. Imp le du Sèvres as well as the name of the subject in iron red and E. B in blue (likely a gilder’s mark) can be found on the reverse.
