Colorado native Tom Lockhart is an award winning American landscape and wildlife painter and an active environmentalist. He attended Emporia State University in Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor o Fine Arts degree, before returning home to manage the family furniture business. After eleven years he finally embarked on his art career, and endeavored to increase his skills through workshops with many notable painters including Ted Goerschner, Ray Vinella, Skip Whitcomb, Lowell Ellsworth Smith and more. His numerous awards include the “Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year” in 1990, and “Best Bird of Prey” and “Best Bird Artist” for the National Wildlife Exhibition in 1993 – 1994. He is also a regular exhibitor in many prestigious plein air painting events the national ‘Arts for the Parks’ featuring works representative of the country’s national parks, monuments and historic sites.
