Born in Pittsburgh, George Macrum painted primarily urban scenes, landscapes and harbor scenes focusing on the New York area. He studied at the Art Students League before becoming a teacher himself. He was an active member of the Allied Artists of America, the Philadelphia Art Club and the Woodstock Art Association. His paintings are in the collections of the Pennsylvania Academy and the Canadian National Gallery.
