An American Impressionist artist and early player for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, he worked in the Cincinnati, Ohio, Richmond, Indiana and Los Angeles, California areas. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Girardin arrived in Cincinnati in the 1870s, studying under well-known artists Thomas Satterwhite Noble and later Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Art Academy.
Condition
- minor wear, small dents, and areas of finish lost throughout the frame; under UV light examination negligible areas of inpainting are revealed throughout the composition.
