Mary V. Keenan was born in Virginia, and worked as a professional artist and teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio circa 1855-1895. She concentrated on painting, pottery decoration, fresco design, and botanical illustration. Though never directly employed by the company, she decorated pottery for Rookwood Pottery, as well as teaching for both the Cincinnati Pottery Club and the Cincinnati Museum Association.
