Swale, 1984 Derby and Belmont Winner Genuine Horseshoe in Presentation Case

Item Details

A genuine horseshoe worn by American legendary thoroughbred, Swale. This historic and significant horse racing collectible was consigned by one of Cincinnati’s most beloved celebrities. The horseshoe is affixed to a medium blue cardboard material and housed in a wood shadow box case. There is a silver plaque nameplate that reads Swale 1984 with a color photo print of this famous racehorse.

Swale was the son of the 1977 Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew and was trained by Woody Stephens and ridden by Hall of Fame Jockey, Laffit Pincay. Swale won the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes in 1984. On June 17, 1984, eight days after the Belmont Stakes, Swale tragically collapsed and died en route to his stall and was buried at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky.
