Additional Information Henri Chatelain’s map of the inhabited parts of North America, based upon Nicholas De Fer’s 4 sheet map published in 1718. This is the smaller version of that larger map. It is based on the 1699 voyage of Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville and shows the French possessions in North America in the early part of the 18th century. A small inset plan of Quebec is found in the lower right corner, and above is a large scale map of Mississippi and surrounding areas. There are examples of wildlife, scenes of Native Americans hunting and various villages with notes. This map was produced to encourage settlements in Louisiana in the burgeoning USA.
