Born in San Miguel, Manila, in 1882, Isidro Ancheta was trained from a young age in the academic tradition. He studied art with famed Philippine artist Fernando Amorsolo, who was also his friend and contemporary, and they painted similar rural scenes of the farmlands around Montalban, Teresa, and Marikina. They frequently embarked on sketching trips with their artist friends. Ancheta’s work has been included in the collections of museums and private institutions.
