Ancient Byzantine Class A2 ‘Anonymous’ bronze Follis coin, ca. 976 A.D. Struck under the reign of Basil II and Constantine VIII. Obverse: +EMMANOVHA IX-XC, bust of Christ, facing, with nimbate cross behind head, holding book of gospels, with dots in center of book’s border, square in each limb of the cross. Reverse: IhSUS XRISTUS bASILEU bASILE in four lines, ornament below. Metal Content: bronze. Diameter: 27.7 mm. Coin is lightly circulated and well-struck for the type. Ref. SB 1813.
