Moshe Katz was born in 1937 in Romania, and after fleeing the Nazis with his parents the family eventually settled in Israel. He attended the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem, then went on to study at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. He was awarded second prize in the Israeli Group Artist show in Haifa in 1959, and has since gone on to exhibit across the United States. Katz often paints with a palette knife, and considers Picasso, Cezanne and Guaguin major influences.

- light surface accretion and yellowing across painting; finishing tape around edges of canvas lifting; accretion on frame; wear and loss to frame.
