Gilt Brass Spherical Weight or "Falling Ball" Mantle Clock, Late 20th Century
Item Details
Most unusual heavy 50 pound brass clock with beveled glass throughout.
It winds without a key. It is weight driven by the 2’ diameter ball bearings which are placed in the top of the clock, and they slowly move through the clock throughout the week, rest in the drawer, ready to start this process over again. Similar clock is displayed in the Forbidden City Clock Museum in Beijing, China, from the Historical Collection of Emperor Qian Long.
