A vintage Girard – Perregaux For Shell Oil advertising pocket watch. A specially produced advertising watch for Shell Oil by Girard – Perregaux that is created to advertise ‘Golden Shell Motor Oil’. The advertisement promoted that the motor oil was so fine that it could lubricate a fine Swiss watch. 30, 000 of these fine watches were produced in 1939 and it is estimated that only approximately 2000 in original condition still exists. The watch features a silver tone skeletonized dial with a black lacquer chapter ring and blued leaf style hands as well as a exhibition case back.
