Sheila Metzner is a Brooklyn born photographer known for high fashion work, celebrity portraits, and landscapes. She studied at the Pratt Institute and began work in advertising, eventually being hired as the art director at Doyle Dane Bernbach. In her spare time over the course of more than a decade she took photographs, particularly of friends, family, her husband, and many children. These photographs were largely neither published nor exhibited until, one portrait of her daughter was included in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, Mirrors and Windows, with the likes of Robert Mapplethorpe and Andy Warhol. Further shows, portrait requests, and commercial work soon followed. She has worked for Valentino, Elizabeth Arden, Paloma Picasso, and in cooperation with Vogue among others. Her work can be found in numerous museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, International Center for Photography, J.
