A. Kelly Pruitt was born in Texas in 1924 and never received formal training for his art. In fact, Pruitt’s first paintings were done on rainbow sandstone that he found near the Grand Canyon. It wasn’t until a visitor noticed his talent that he began his artistic career. Pruitt’s oil paintings and sculptures captured the western landscape around him, rendered in loose, broad brushstrokes.

- scattered accretion across painting surface; nicks, scratches and areas of finish loss to frame; staining to liner.
