This painting depicts a scene from Bradley Wharf in Rockport, Massachusetts known as ‘Motif Number 1’ due to it’s immense popularity as a subject for the painters of the Rockport Artist Colony. The building, originally built in 1840 was beloved for its composition, lighting and representation the maritime lifestyle of the east coast.
