Born in Massachusetts, Jerome Elwell spent much of his life studying and working there as well as in Italy and various parts of Europe. He is best known for his depictions of nautical vistas in the Gloucester and Venetian areas. His work is represented in the collection of
Peabody Essex Museum, as well as private collections throughout the globe.
