Daniel E. Greene is an accomplished pastel and portrait artist. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Art Students League of New York, where he studied with Robert Brackman. He was later an instructor at the Art Students League and at the National Academy of Design. He has achieved notable success for his work and received multiple awards including the John Singer Sargent Award for Lifetime Achievement in Portraiture from the American Society of Portrait Artists and was inducted into the Pastel Society of America Hall of Fame and the Oil Painters of America Society Hall of Fame. He has published two books on pastel drawing, Pastel and The Art of Pastel, and produced several instructional videos. He has been commissioned to paint portraits of numerous figures from astronauts and entertainers to politicians and CEOs. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and others.

- droplet marks to the upper right of the painting; slight accretions to painting, liner, and frame; nicks and minor abrasions to the frame particularly to the lower corners.
