Worcester Dr Wall Period "Scale Blue" Plate, circa 1768-76
Item Details
A Worcester Dr Wall period plate with Scale Blue decoration. This piece was produced between 1768-76. The fashionable decoration consisting of a subtle fish scale painted under the blue ground was paired with alternating cartouche and vase shaped reserves, painted English flowers, and tooled gilding. The process took several passes through the kiln and many hours from the painters and gilders. Worcester marked it’s Scale Blue decorated pieces with a pseudo Chinese fret mark in unglaze blue on the back.
