Born in Kladno, Czechoslovakia, Hugo Anton Fisher learned to paint from his father and was exhibiting at the Paris Salon before the age of twenty. He relocated to New York during 1874, becoming a Hudson River School landscape artist. He later settled in Almeda, California. His work can be found in many public collections including the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco and the Hawaii State Art Museum.
