Paul Cézanne was born in Aix-en-Provence and is known for his revolutionary understanding of perspective and form. From his compositional framing techniques to his landscapes and still-lifes with altered perspective, Cézanne is credited with inspiring Picasso and the Cubist’s to reimagine form. His interpretation of the human form juxtapose classical-style portraiture and figure painting with an adept use of color and composition. Cézanne created a prolific body of work, which can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Musée d’Orsay, Paris; and the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia, among many others.
