Scarce 1939 Signed "Japanese Wood-block Printing" by Hiroshi Yoshida

Item Details

This only edition by Hiroshi Yoshida, renowned artist of the shi-hanga style of woodblocks, features a tipped-in frontispiece titled Cherry and Castle signed H. Yoshida to the lower edge. A series of plates show the order of printing which culminates in a finished plate signed and titled A Junk. Following the progression of plates is a special print of A Junk which is also signed to the lower edge. Additional plates and illustrations are throughout the text. An appendix lists the blocks and processes for 220 works of art completed by the artist.
