Born in 1952, Rosemarie Trockel was an important part of the contemporary art movement in Germany. Known for her complex painting, photography, sculpture, and video installations, Trockel’s work addressed the contemporary concerns of women in society, verging on the controversial. Through her art, she challenged theories about sexuality, culture, and artistic production, using an industrial knitting machine to create some of her pieces. She is a professor at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, in Düsseldorf in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
