Hugh O’Neill was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1959, where he began drawing and painting at an early age. He studied in the Honors Fine Arts Degree program at the University of Ulster in Belfast, and spent time painting throughout France. O’Nell works in the tradition of the master landscape painters of the early 20th century, painting en plein air. He has won numerous awards for his work and is considered one of Ireland’s greatest living landscape painters.
