This work was pictured in an American Artist magazine 1978 article The Psychological Landscape of David Lund by Diane Cochrane.

David Lund is known for his modernist landscapes that blend vibrant colors often verging on abstraction. His work has been associated with the New York School of abstract expressionists and some of his early influences include Willem de Kooning and Arshile Gorky. The son of Jewish Polish immigrants, Lund was born in and grew up in New York City. He attended Queens College and New York University and continued his studies in Rome as the recipient of two Fullbright Grants. He went on to become a professor at Cooper Union and Columbia University as well as teaching at several other prestigious institutions including Parsons School of Design, Washington University, and Boston University. His work can be found in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Toronto Gallery of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Delaware Art Museum, and the McNay Art Institute, San Antonio.
