‘Water and beach scenes inspire much of Laug’s landscape work. He attributes this to his love of the ocean breeze and the feeling of freedom it evokes combined with the hope inspired by the incredible beauty of ocean sunsets/sunrises. Laug’s work is heavily influenced by the Fauve and post-Impressionist movements. Whether the subject is landscape, still life or figurative, his visually engaging work is spirited and lively. His art is distinguished by energetic brush strokes and use of color, bringing his subjects to life. His goal is to emotionally connect with viewers, striking a chord with personal experiences and expanding interest in life’s possibilities.’
