Frank Barney began his formal artistic training when he moved to New York City to join the Arts Students League in 1866. In the years following, he studied with William Merritt Post in his studio in West Morris, Connecticut, before traveling to Paris to study in Barbizon and painting throughout France and England.
His works are represented in Syracuse Museum of Fine Art, Binghamton Museum of Art, and The Filson Historical Society, Inc.

- wear to edges of frame; dust and accretions present to painting; slight surface wear present to painting; canvas has been relined; wax lined to the verso.
