Harold Miles was born Des Moines, Iowa and attended the Cumming School of Art and later the Académie Colarossi in Paris. He taught at the University of Iowa and after moving to Los Angeles at the Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes and Los Angeles Jr. College. Later in his career he found work in the art departments of the growing film industry as a concept artist, set designer, and art director. Most notably he worked on several projects with Cecile B. DeMille and with Walt Disney including as an art director for the groundbreaking animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

- uneven application of varnish; areas of discoloration throughout varnish particularly across the upper left, to the center, and to the right; cracks across the painting with tenting to the upper left; scratches and drying cracks to the upper right corner; chips to the corners of frame; nicks, abrasions, and white marks to frame.
