Louis Étienne Timmermans was a Belgian-born artist of the 19th century, with a significant portion of his career spent working in France. He studied at the Brussels Academy and then at the Académie Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He specialized in maritime and seascape paintings, and exhibited work with the group Les Artistes Français and at the Salon in Ghent.

Condition

- slight foxing to paper; wear to frame includes finish loss and chips to edge molding; discoloration, tears, and tape present to paper backing and framer’s label on verso; evidence of repair to frame molding noted in upper right corner and throughout edges in other, smaller areas.
