This work depicts the French commune of Saint-Saturnin, Puy-de-Dôme.

Marion Barr-Stanfield was an American artist and writer working in New York and Westport, Connecticut. She studied in France with Victor Charreton (1864 – 1936) and André L’Hote (1885 – 1962), and in New York at Parsons School of Design and with Robert Henri (American, 1865 – 1929) at the Art Student’s League. She was a member of numerous arts associations, and exhibited her work with the Society of Independent Artists, the National Academy of Design, the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, the Hudson River Art Association and others, as well as many solo and group gallery shows. In addition to her artwork, Marion Baar-Stanfield was an art reviewer and critic writing for Art Digest and International Studio.

- UV light examination indicates overpainting repair present throughout the composition and along edges of canvas; slight frame rub present along edges; some craquelure to paint; discoloration to painting surface; scratches and edge wear to frame.
