Lee Winslow Court is known for his winter and fall New England landscapes and for his Moneghan Island, Maine coastline seascapes. He studied with Ernest Major, Cyrus Dalin, Richard Andrews, and Wilbur Hamilton at the Massachusetts College of Art from 1921-1924. He also studied with and developed a close lifelong friendship with artist Aldro Hibbard in Rockport in 1922. The two would often travel and paint New England landscapes together en plein air. From 1925 until 1960, Lee Court worked as the Director of Displays and designer for Filene’s department store in Boston. During that time he also traveled extensively and painted in several of these locations including Ireland, the Antarctic, the Canadian Rockies, and Norway. He was awarded the John Singleton Copley Medal and named a Copley Master. His work can be found in several private collections and public institutions including the William A. Farnsworth Art Museum and the Evansville Museum, Indiana.

- scratches with paint loss to the lower center and to the center of the upper and left edges; abrasions with some paint loss to the right edge of the barn; discoloration and foxing throughout linen liner; accretions, discoloration, scratches, and finish loss throughout the frame.
