Frédéric Pissarro, the great grandson of renowned French Impressionist Camille Pissarro 1830 – 1903), was born and raised in Paris, France. He first studied painting with his father before attending the Ecole de Sèvres from 1983 – 1984, and then the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts (ENSBA) from 1984 – 1988, where he studied with Jacques Yankel (France, 1920 – 2004) and Antonio Segui (Argentina, born 1934). After his schooling he settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he taught at the Art Institute of Cincinnati, and then went on to receive a Bachelor and a Masters of Arts from Morehead State University in Kentucky. Pissaro incorporates elements of fauvism and neo-impressionism into his colorful abstract works which he refers to as ‘expressive figurative’.
