Born in Chicago, Donna Clair studied at the University of Illinois, the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, and the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1967 she moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and became known for her paintings and pastel drawings of New Mexican subjects, rendered with vibrant colors and her signature pointillistic style with short repetitious strokes. Clair’s work has been featured in multiple books and publications, including Leading the West, Art of the American West, and Southwest Art magazine, among others.
