A Beatles Yesterday and Today Mono LP featuring a third state “butcher cover". The cover features the members of the band in butcher’s smocks draped in pieces of meat and baby doll parts. The image was not originally intended as cover art, and was instead intended to be part of a conceptual art piece by the photographer Robert Whitaker. Capitol Records originally released 750,000 records with this cover. Capitol Records and its parent company received numerous complaints about the cover, and the records were recalled, with many of the covers ordered destroyed or pasted over with a less offensive cover. This record features the “third state” cover, meaning that the cover had been pasted over with a less offensive cover and had the less offensive cover removed.
